And the key to great customer service is a knowledgeable and dedicated team. Following is a brief introduction of the individuals who provide the responsive Denver CPA service that we are known for:
- Harry J. Schmidt, CPA serves as the firm's managing partner and is director of the firm's management consulting department. Harry has more than 30 years of business consulting and public accounting experience, including ten years with "Big-5" accounting firms and fifteen plus years as an owner or co-owner of a local firm. Harry has diversified experience with emphasis in financial consulting, strategic planning, auditing, tax planning and compliance. Harry's industry expertise includes manufacturing, distribution, construction, technology, professional service firms, and land development.
Harry is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, at Kearney. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of CPA's. Harry served on the Board of Directors of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce and is the past chairman of its Business Growth Center and is past President of a national service club, The Exchange Club.
- Daniel B. Rice, CPA, serves as the firm's director of taxation. He has over 15 years of tax experience, including 7 years with a "Big-5" accounting firm. Dan has substantial experience in tax and estate planning for individuals, businesses, and partnerships. Dan's specific expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, manufacturing, contractors, real estate, and professional service firms.
Dan is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, and has a master's degree in taxation from Oklahoma State University as well. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Colorado Society of CPA's.
- Deborah M. Putney, CPA, is a supervisor in the consulting, audit and tax departments. Debbie has 18 years of experience in public accounting and private industries primarily in the telecommunications, oil and gas and savings and loan industries.
Debbie supervises the firm's outsourcing of controllership and accounting functions. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
- Ryan Barrett is a supervisor in the auditing department. Prior to
joining Schmidt + Associates he worked in real estate industry for 5
years in accounting and internal audit roles. Ryan has experience with
Governmental and not-for-profit auditing while working for a Denver CPA
firm.
Ryan is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado and is
completing a masters degree in Accounting at the University of Phoenix.
- Susan Jacobson serves as the firms Director of Bookkeeping services. She
has 22 years of experience in the private sector working with clients in
the banking, restaurant, utility, property management and software
technology industries.
Susan is a graduate of the University of Montana and has a bachelor's
degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting as well as
minors in Computer Science and Office Administration. She is a member
of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.
